the golden planet
The Golden Planet Project is a Community Interest Company set up by people with learning disabilities to provide unique employment opportunities for this group of people through a calendar of Social Events, Training and workshops.
The Golden Planet Project is set up to address gaps in employment and provides business opportunities for people with support needs predominantly those with a learning disability or condition such as autistic spectrum disorder. Setting up and developing of a business is an excellent foundation for building and developing employment skills and experience. The Golden Planet Project recognizes that not all people can adapt to mainstream learning and employment environments and for this reason has developed their own. However, in order to fulfil their job roles people will have to learn and acquire professional skills and qualifications. This will be achieved through accessing mainstream learning environments or tailoring training to people’s specific needs where this is necessary.
The Golden Planet Project Job roles will be supported by workers from Jigsaw Creative Care Limited, as will be workshops and events.
We would welcome comments, support and donations that help us in this endeavour.
On a Friday evening between 7 pm and 9 pm we run a social club called G8 which is held at Woodley Airfield Youth and Community Centre. Everyone is welcome; it is a great opportunity to meet others in a relaxed atmosphere. There is a small tuck shop and activities such as pool, table tennis, music, a Wii and much more. We run themed nights, and host birthday parties.
